Before choosing parts, step back and look at your house overall.

Colonial home? Wood balusters or simple iron usually work best.

Open concept modern home? Clean square iron is almost always the right move.

Transitional homes (which is most of New Jersey, honestly) look great with wood handrails and black iron balusters.

The goal isn’t to follow trends.

It’s to make your staircase feel like it belongs in your house.
